Nereus appoints Savvas Kampouridis as Chief Technology Officer
Nereus has appointed Savvas Kampouridis as Chief Technology Officer. He joins as the company prepares the launch of Nereus 2.0 later this year, and leads the platform’s technical architecture, product engineering and infrastructure.
Who is Savvas Kampouridis?
Savvas brings more than two decades of engineering leadership across maritime technology, enterprise software and digital platforms. He spent 11 years at MarineTraffic as Head of Engineering, where he built and led a team of 70 engineers and directed the company’s technical development through its exit in 2023. He later served as Director of Engineering at Wikifarmer and as Chief Technology Officer at Benefit Software.
What does he lead at Nereus?
Savvas oversees product engineering, infrastructure and the systems design behind the platform’s bunker procurement and intelligence capabilities. He brings large-scale engineering management, systems architecture expertise and a record of turning complex operational requirements into production maritime software.
“The maritime industry has the data. What it has lacked is the infrastructure to act on it in real time. That is what we are building at Nereus.”
What does it mean for Nereus 2.0?
Nereus connects ship operators and fuel suppliers across 450 ports worldwide, provides live indication prices and digitises the bunker inquiry. The platform has cut inquiry-to-quote time from 37 minutes to 8 and reduces procurement workload by up to 80 percent. Nereus 2.0 expands the platform’s intelligence and procurement capabilities, with Savvas leading the architecture behind it.
